Pilot AEDDA with your clinic, legal aid office or court
A free, 90-day pilot of a self-help tool that helps self-represented people get records from non-parties, authenticated and on time, with anonymized results you can use.
Why a pilot
Self-represented litigants often need bank statements, pay records, phone records or medical records held by someone outside the case. Records-subpoena rules are technical (in New Jersey: the records deposition, required statements and 10-day simultaneous notice under R. 4:14-7(c)), and mistakes lead to objections, delay and records that arrive without proof they are authentic. AEDDA handles the paperwork and the back-and-forth so staff time goes further.
What AEDDA does
- Builds the subpoena, notice to the other parties and certification of service under the court's rules, and checks the dates.
- Sends the record-keeper one secure link: two-way messages and documents, no account needed.
- Collects the records with an e-signed custodian certification and a SHA-256 fingerprint for every file.
- Holds records until the court's release date, guides both sides through objections and court orders, and ends every request with a documented outcome and an activity report.
How a pilot works
1. A 20-minute demo
We show your team how AEDDA works for a litigant and for a record-keeper, and agree on the pilot's size, dates and goals.
2. Your pilot code
You get a code (for example SHU-PILOT-27) that sponsors your participants' requests at no charge, up to an agreed number, plus a private link to live results.
3. Referral
You refer people who need records from a bank, employer, phone company, hospital or other non-party. They sign up free and use AEDDA on their own, entering your code when they send a request.
4. Check-ins
A 30-minute onboarding at the start and a short monthly check-in. We fix problems and add what participants need.
5. Results
At the end we write a short results report together from the anonymized data and participant feedback, shared with you first.
Roles
Participants
Use AEDDA on their own as self-represented parties: they prepare, issue, serve and manage their own requests.
Your organization
Refers participants, gives guidance if and as it normally does, and helps evaluate the pilot. No representation or supervision is required.
Kasecraftportal.com
Sponsors the requests, provides onboarding and support, fixes issues quickly, and prepares the results report with you.
What we measure
- Requests sent and completed, and how many record-keepers opened the link.
- Median days from sending the link to certified records.
- Objections, requests for more time, court orders, and how requests ended.
- Participant ratings (overall and ease of use) and whether it saved time.
Your team sees these live on a private results page. Everything is anonymized and combined.
Privacy and security
- Records are stored privately and released to the requester only when the court's rules allow.
- Record-keeper links are unique and stored as secure hashes; e-signature consent is recorded.
- Every step is timestamped in an audit trail.
- Partners receive only anonymized, aggregate results. See our pilot program terms.
Questions
Does our clinic have to supervise participants?
No. AEDDA is a self-help tool. In New Jersey a self-represented party may issue a subpoena in the clerk's name (R. 1:9-1), and AEDDA gives rule information, forms and workflow, not individualized legal advice. Your clinic decides whether to give guidance as part of its usual practice. If law students advise participants, your clinic's normal student-practice rules and supervision apply to that advice (in New Jersey, R. 1:21-3(b)).
What does it cost?
Nothing during the pilot. Participants' requests are sponsored with your pilot code. After the pilot, clinic referrals can continue at no cost by agreement.
What data do we see?
Counts and averages only: participants, requests sent and completed, objections, outcomes, days to certified records, and feedback ratings. You never see participants' names, case details, messages, documents or records through AEDDA.
Can we use the results for teaching or research?
Yes, the anonymized results can support coursework, case studies and access-to-justice research. If your institution plans a study involving human subjects, its own review process (such as an IRB) applies; we will work within it, including consent language and data limits.
Which courts are covered?
New Jersey Superior Court (Law Division, Civil Part) and federal court, plus any other court where the participant enters the court's own deadlines. We can prioritize your jurisdiction's rules during the pilot.
What does the record-keeper need?
Nothing to install and no account: they respond through a secure link, upload records and e-sign a custodian certification.
